A pleasant afternoon meeting, with Geoff R showing one of his dioramas, featuring several tired locos. He also displayed a Class 10 BR shunter and a flat-bed lorry, renovated from a battered ‘Dinky’. However, he and Ross were soon sorting through loco parts from some kits; mainly a Terrier and a large GWR tender locomotive. These were from Joe B’s collection of models and tools, which Roger was busily sorting. They are available for members to buy. David Ha. was back in action, soon discussing scratch building with Tim, who was fettling a narrow-gauge saddle tank. Jack also caught up with modellers’ news.
The three new baseboards were by the stage, with an adjoining ‘Circuit’ The A4 papers showing the track plans were placed out by David G, with Paul W painstakingly gluing them into long strips. Nearer the door, the signal cabin section of ‘Sarre’ was being worked on by John B. Behind its narrowed platform, control rods were boxed-in, ready for vegetation to burgeon. We were viewing a book on the East Kent Light, brought in by Ross, Earlier, five members lunched outdoors at the Red Lion, until rain arrived with puddings.
