After setting up with our exciting new format of the big table near the stage and the circuit near the entrance door we proceeded with our theme of the day, namely: engines which were neither black nor green. First on the circuit was Fred with a LMR 0-6-0ST in blue named Errol Lonsdale followed by David G with some of his S&DJR locos in Prussian Blue
pulling two six wheel coaches. Roger had the widest range of liveries, running a Class 60 diesel in Deutsche Bahn red followed by a Class 59 in ARC mustard and a Class 33 in Railfreight construction grey.
Tim ran his PLA 0-6-0T No 67 in PLA blue and his LT Pannier in red and Ross ran his Terrier “Brighton Works” in yellow and his Manning Wardle K Class 0-6-0 in blue. Actually, Ross’s Terrier is in “Improved Engine Green” but it looked yellow to me. Rob had his Hudswell Clark 0-6-0ST in red pulling a train of his hand painted PO wagons and John D had a NCB sentinel “Maude” in blue pulling a few wagons. And finally, just when we were doing so well in following the theme of the day Steve ran two locos in BR black but we won’t mention them.
On the big table the usual culprits put the world to rights and did a bit of modelling. Tim had brought in and worked on the signal box he is building for Lenham Junction.
Earlier we had a visitor, John, from the United States who was in Kent visiting a friend and decided to pop in and see what we were up to. Then while we were dealing with the notices and deciding what to do for our 40th Anniversary Peter Cooper appeared and introduced himself. Peter lives in Chatham and is looking for a group to join so hopefully we won’t have put him off and will see him again soon. We had quite a debate about our 40th Anniversary and decided that we should have a meal to celebrate the event in March next year. Geoff undertook to find a suitable venue; probably but not necessarily in
Faversham where we started off and Tim will see that something gets put on the Guild website when we know the details of what we will be doing.
Geoff reported that as some people were already aware Martin Long the Gauge O Guild Chairman had sadly passed away suddenly a few days earlier. Roger told us that he and Geoff will be taking a sales table to Pett on 13 July and that if anybody has anything they wish to sell they should let him know. Geoff will be taking a small display to the Guild summer show at Kempton Park on 31 May.
As always David Ho kept us copiously supplied with teas and coffees until close of play.
