Today’s theme on the circuit was 4-6-0 and 4-6-2 locos and what an array we had running round. Fred brought along the most, modestly claiming that he had only brought them along for show but soon had them all running round. Among Fred’s fleet I noticed a King, a Castle, an LMS Jubilee no 5640 “Frobisher” and a Black 5 no 45067. Martin had also brought along a number of locos including a Black 5 no 45379 and Flying Scotsman with its British Railways number 60103 while yet another Black 5 no 45440 was brought in by David G.

It was all go on the big table where Peter was again working on a GWR platelayers hut while Doug carried on with his Swedish railcar and now has two on the go so I guess he likes them. (Note from Doug: I was working on the seats for my Swedish (SJ) Yd railcar. All good so far but as I was driving home it occurred to me that I’d made up 4mm seats not 7mm seats! They looked small but I didn’t twig it. Muppet, that I am. They won’t go to waste as I have a 4mm version as well.) Dave B and Roger having both taken advantage of Geoff’s £5 wagon sale were working on their chosen wagons. Dave B was giving his wagon a good overhaul, but Roger was busy with his razor saw in a cut and shut operation to reduce the size as a first step to converting it to an ex LDCR wagon.

Steve had brought in a couple of Jintys (apparently you can never have too many) and Geoff had a narrow gauge Hunslet loco and a 4 wheel coach. Tim in between making teas and coffees in David Ho’s absence was painting the signal box he had built for Lenham Junction and Ross was busy photographing locos on the photo staging Fred had built. David L and Barry worked on Queen Charlotte Dock replacing the MERG circuit boards with DCC Concepts Cobalt point motors as the circuit boards had proved unreliable in operation.

After the running session finished the circuit was packed away and we headed off into the sunshine. Chris
