As requested by various members, not least at the AGM, today was a running day on the circuit for those members who find it difficult to come to the Wednesday meetings.
Unfortunately, none of those members turned up so the rest of us had the circuit to ourselves.
We’ll persevere and have another running day on the circuit on Saturday 25th May and hopefully some of the “Saturdays only” members will take advantage of it and bring some of their stock along to run.
Still the circuit was fully employed as Roger ran his lengthy cement train pulled along by his Class 56 diesel in construction livery and Rob ran his Minneapolis and St Louis diesel loco together with a caboose and various assorted freight wagons.
Geoff ran a couple of terriers (one Sancheng and one Dapol) and John B ran his sentinel and his Hudswell Clarke 86 together with an ex David G LSWR brake van acquired at our bring and buy sale at the AGM meeting. I had forgotten to bring a brake van so borrowed John’s to tail end my mixed goods train of SECR wagons and vans. These were all built
from various SER kits and represented a period around 1910.
While all this was going on Fred continued painting the dock walls on Queen Charlotte Dock and David Ho carried on working on the shelving in the storeroom having found some additional wood surplus to requirements of the Hall Committee. Teas and coffees were supplied as usual by David Ho and after a very enjoyable afternoon of chatting and playing trains we packed everything away and headed off home. Chris
