Today was the long awaited Christmas Quiz hosted by this year’s Quizmaster John D.
After weeks of making us all believe that he hadn’t really got anything John produced an excellent quiz which challenged us all without being too esoteric or obscure.
After splitting into teams of three we worked diligently through the question sheets despite being deeply conscious of the need to avoid winning the contest and therefore being asked to provide the Christmas Quiz for next year. As the final scores were added up it became clear that modesty had won the day (nobody likes a swot or a show off) with two teams tying for first place with 25 points out of a possible 60.
Roger (who’s not daft) graciously conceded that one of his team’s points had been incorrectly awarded and that Tim’s team were in fact the true winners. To whoops of joy (Roger’s not Tim’s) Tim’s team were declared the winners and Tim having already produced last year’s quiz David L was volunteered to produce next year’s.
As the excitement subsided, we thanked John D for a very fine quiz, cleared away the tables and chairs and headed over to the Red Lion to enjoy each other’s company and a seasonal meal. Chris
