Ian Earl, the hall booking manager, popped in to exchange our old heating cards for new contact less ones to be used on the new meter that has recently been installed. A point to bear in mind is that the new cards are not to be thrown away once used as they need to be returned to Ian to be “recharged”. Unlike the old ones which we used to throw away there will be a charge for any new cards that we bin.
The circuit was set up and soon Roger’s ARC Class 59 diesel was running round as was John B’s Terrier “Fenchurch”. Later Martin switched one of the tracks over to DCC and ran his Class 33 Diesel hauling two Darstaedt Mk 1 BR coaches. After a while Martin also ran his Pannier tank on the same line at the same time courtesy of DCC.
Jack Fawcett, whom we had met at the Longfield Show came to his first meeting at Badlesmere and quickly got around chatting to everyone and seeing what they were up to.
There was much to see; David B was busy stripping back the paintwork on his badly painted O2, This was a messy and time-consuming job but once cleaned up and repainted will produce a very fine looking loco. Engine sheds were in vogue today with both John B and Paul H working on their respective models while Ross kept everyone in order. I brought back two of the Queen Charlotte Dock baseboards and demonstrated the smooth running from the new traverser on the first board on to the tracks on the second board. Tim has now taken the first board and the traverser to finish off the wiring to the
power bus.
Over on the big table the usual chat and model making went on with John B working on some card coach kits, Tim re-jigging the roof on the warehouse at Queen Charlotte Dock and David Gr working on a kit of a rather large diesel goods loco.
Bill kept us all supplied with teas and coffees today and it was noted that we currently have somewhat of a glut of biscuits so any help in reducing this to more manageable proportions will be greatly appreciated. Chris
