After setting up the circuit we ran our latest acquisitions and some not so latest acquisitions. Fred brought along a GWR Collett Goods loco that he had recently acquired.
This unfinished kit built loco had been very well constructed and will not need an awful lot more doing to it to finish it off. Once completed and painted it should be a very fine model.
Roger ran his Railfreight Class 56 diesel in construction livery hauling a train of vacuum fitted ballast wagons. Nobody spotted Roger’s deliberate mistake (which he later pointedout) in running a non-vacuum fitted loco with a vacuum fitted train. Steve brought along a bargain basement Prairie tank that he had to his own surprise succeeded in buying on e-bay. This was another uncompleted build and Steve was in the process of finishing it off by ironing out any problems and adding any missing parts. The Prairie ran beautifully around the circuit as did his LMS Stanier 2-8-0 which dear reader you will remember Steve has been working on over on the big table these last few months.
Other locos seen on the circuit today included Geoff’s lovely little early Hudswell Clarke 0-4-0 saddle tank and my Ace models SECR E Class which never fails to disappoint on the circuit as it just doesn’t do curves.
John B carried on building his fleet of cardboard coaches on the big table while Roger and Geoff put the world to rights. Bill and Tim worked on the dockside surface of Queen Charlotte Dock painting on a first coat of grimy paint in and around the rails while Rob having put his head above the parapet was tasked with painting the baseboard edges.
Over lunch Ross asked how many members actually look at the club website and at the photos that Ross takes and Barry places there. This involves no little effort on Ross and Barry’s part and Ross asked whether members thought it was worthwhile.
Most people around the table said that they looked at the website and the photos in the Gallery and wished the practice to continue. It was also pointed out that the website was not only for member’s use but also for any non-members who wished to see what we are about.
As David Ho, our resident chaiwallah was absent entertaining antipodean guests David B took over the reins once again and kept us all supplied with teas and coffees. Chris
