Our focus today on the Circuit was on Sentinel locomotives. These quirky little engines are clearly very popular as a large number of them very quickly appeared on the circuit. These were mainly Dapol models in different guises. John D brought in four of the five Dapol Sentinels he owned all of which were in different liveries. Stuart gave his Sentinel a spin on the circuit, along with David Gr and his S&D version, as did Fred running his pulling a very nicely weathered tank wagon.
By way of variety Geoff had a number of different types of Sentinel locomotives including a crane loco and two 0-4-0VBTs, Gervase and Hawkesbury which contrasted nicely with the ubiquitous Dapol models.
Tim ran a small 0-6-0ST Sophie, Dave B had a LMS 1F 0-6-0T and Fred a GWR Collet Goods 0-6-0 that he was in the process of reconstructing.
Ian Earl popped over and explained to the Committee that the proposed works to the hall will consist of altering the layout and renewing the Gents and Ladies toilets. The stage will be moved to the left to allow separate access to the Ladies and Gents from the hall. The proposed works are expected to take three to four weeks during which time the hall will be
unavailable to us. The timing of the works is not yet known but will probably now be in the autumn. During that time, we will seek to hold our meetings at another venue close to Faversham,
Paul had brought in and continued working on his GWR Coaling stage diorama which is looking really impressive with all the constituent parts slowly coming together. On the other side of the table Fred had brought in a Traction Fuelling Point that he had built.
Over lunch we decided that our trip in the summer to the Spa Valley Railway will be on the Saturday meeting in June and Martin is to provide some detail for us on cost and available menus etc. As David Ho was busy today preparing his report on Lenham for the AGM Tim stepped into the breach to ensure that we were all supplied with teas and coffees.
