Kempton Park GOG Show
I attended the O Gauge Guild Summer Show at Kempton Park recently with my micro layout, Wapping Wharf. It was an excellent show, well laid out on two floors, well attended, with traders reporting healthy sales.
EKOGG was very well represented, our members seen leaving with bags full of goodies. All of our flyers were taken; our hobby is more than alive and kicking. Hopefully, we will see the results of fat wallet running at Badlesmere shortly. Geoff

Once we had set up the circuit we concentrated on the theme of the day namely 0-6-0 tender engines. David G ran a 4F pulling some carmine and cream coaches and Roger also ran a 4F. This was an ancient Lima LMS 4F in maroon livery. A bit of a family heirloom this having been bought for him by his Dad it coped admirably with the circuit despite not having been run for many years. I brought along and gave its maiden outing to an SECR O1 in full Wainwright livery. As it coped well going round on its own, I then added nine coal wagons and a brake van and gave it an extended run out to help it run in.

In stark contrast to my O1 Graham brought along and ran three locos from the 1950s namely an ex Great Central J11 number 64534, an ex-Great Eastern J15 number 6454 and an LNER J39 number 64922. It was a case of Edwardian elegance meets British Railways grime and Graham’s locos certainly evoke an era. Amongst all this Bill ran an LMS 0-6-0T, obviously sans tender but it did have a rather nice coal wagon with it.

Over on the big table with all the usual chatter and wheeling and dealing taking place Paul was busy fitting DCC decoders to two GWR locos and Roger was adding transfers to some SECR vans. During the morning David Ho and I carried on with lining out the storeroom roof to prevent condensation dripping from the roof on to our layouts. This work will also reduce the amount of dust and dirt that blows around in the store.
And wearing his other hat as our Honorary Catering Manager David Ho also kept us all supplied with teas and coffees as usual until we packed everything away and headed off home. Chris
