Wednesday Meeting

A splendid, but chilly autumn day, so we tested the heater over the modelling tables. There were plenty of helpers when John B took charge of setting out our Circuit. I grabbed the inner line to exercise a US Alco diesel with boxcars, while Fred took to the outer with a single unit railcar, replete with speed whiskers. A Sentinel loco waited alongside. Paul H readied a line for DCC operation; running his blue and white railcar, followed by an 08 shunter with a few wagons. He returned later to check-out his GWR Castle. A Class 50 ran with a goodly number of ballast wagons. They gently rattled by, then roared away. A Portsmouth Direct EMU followed, with David G keeping a close eye on its progress.

Roger re-capped on details for our stand at the Gravesend Show. We want as many members as possible to be involved in this events and the Longfield Show at the end of January. More members have booked for our Christmas Meal. Paul W ran over the details of our November 27th Open Day. Bill had a place in the sun, beside the Circuit, to paint figures of LB&SCR footplate crew. On the modelling tables, John B assembling a detailed road tanker and Paul H worked on the interior for a goods shed. Edington workers, Paul W and Barry K, had difficulties powering points on a baseboard section; David Ho. joining them with a soldering iron. Nearby, underlay was being glued to a new baseboard.

Once models were packed, we efficiently stored baseboards and tables, before waiting while the hall was closed. A good day as usual.
