Wednesday Meeting

The two Johns were signing me to park on the grass quietly when I drove up, as they were being entertained by a dubious nag looking askance at the motor horsebox. We left off being spectators and threw the hall open. Soon joined by some of our stalwarts, the Circuit was positioned and tables set out. We totalled a dozen members with John B.doing good business on the sales table and with the other hand collected fees. Jim P. dropped by with returning boxes of books, before joining his wife in the car and heading off on their post lockdown day out. Fettling his tiny saddle tank was Tim’s main focus, while Chris tackled the lane on the public side of ‘Edington’, reprofiling, then adding fine gravel along to the store. Bill got advice on LSWR underframe details for a white metal wagon kit.

Fred and David G., knowing today’s theme, soon had green DMUs running, while Geoff showed an electric / battery luggage van; such as used to tow water tankers to Dover harbour. David Ho. had helped Jim F and his diesels get to us, with Barry K. giving a hand with checking and advising about DCC. An aged ‘Hymec’ stuttered into life as well.. Later runners included a small diesel-mechanical and John P’s smooth-running Terrier with a short consist of sheeted wagons. Once again a friendly session with plenty happening.
