With Fourteen of us on August 18th it was a hive of industry. A deal of modelling knowhow was shared; wiring basics, painting brickwork – felt like old times. A section of ‘Edington’ had static grass and re-greening trees trialled. Tim’s scratch built narrow-gauge loco – with angular tank – was burnished and finishing touches added. John P had a selection of magazines for members to take and a variety of modelling accessories were for sale. John J showed us a section of his garden and demonstrated some industrial strength magnetic tape which could be used to attach back-scenes or foregrounds to layouts. A couple of members came on the hourly bus, later arranging return lifts into Faversham.
‘Sarre’ was out for all to run on, and modelling tables were scattered throughout the hall. Steve S’s BR green Class 15 must have been a type first on that layout. John B’s RCT Austerity 0-6-0 ran, as did Fred’s 08 with weathered hoppers and a variety of tank locos. A point operating glitch was dealt with by David Ho. Paul H, our Area Rep., spread a plan for another mini-layout and tweaked the point-work positions. He found we had his size of EKOGG polo shirt in stock, so we’ll look out for him flying our colours at shows. We’re represented at Beckenham, in St John’s Church on October 16th, when ‘Sarre’ is there. Hopefully, some of us will drop by to see Roger and the team.
