Several regulars had sent their apologies so it was a pleasant surprise that no fewer than 12 members attended today. The theme was ‘red coaches’, and Paul ran a rake of fine looking Dapol red and cream Mk1s behind an impressive Class 47, while David G produced a rake of Gresley vehicles hauled by an (initially unwilling) Class 24, followed by a Class 21 with a pair of crimson non-corridors and an SR bogie van. Finally, Bill tried his newly-acquired 02 in Gorgeous green livery.

Meanwhile, David L lavished detailed attention to touching up wear and tear on Edington.
David Ho and Tim considered the electrics on the micro layout, while at the table we looked at the track and other bits and pieces that John B was offering. He also showed us his 16mm NG laser-cut coach kit (having forgotten to bring glue to actually build it). David Ho had to leave early, and Tim stepped in to keep us refreshed with tea and coffee, much appreciated at lunchtime, when relaxed conversation included entertaining stories of travel experiences. Bill reported on the Longfield show, which went well with a very busy Saturday, when Roger made a brave and brief appearance at the show despite a chest
infection. We were sorry to learn that Chris M picked up Covid while operating Sarre.
After lunch, we made our way home along the newly-repaired and level track. David G
