Several EKOGG members were in the large crowd at Bob Fridd’s funeral at Barham crematorium on 14th March.
The celebrant was our very own Fr Jack, who was able to give a suitable eulogy, quoting from several tributes from family and friends.
John Minter kindly gave me a lift there and back via the reception at Chilham.
Geoff Roberts brought along a little cameo Bob had built, entirely of cardboard, of ‘Meteor’, a Black Hawthorn 2’8” gauge tank at a clay works near Swanscombe (pictured).
Richard Barton was there with a group of SECR enthusiasts. Bob’s skill as a modeller and painter were described.
Two large scale models, also in cardboard, a Stirling F class 4-4-0 and a Pullman car have been gifted to the KESR. The loco is on display at the Museum at Tenterden, while the Pullman will be placed in a case on a full-size Pullman car; it will travel up and down the line regularly.
Both will be permanent tributes to his skills. Members may remember that Bob visited us at Badlesmere last June (also pictured).
