Wednesday Meeting

Roger beat me to the hall and was setting out Sarre for a practice of the running sequence, before it appears at Beckenham. I got it positioned just in the front of the stage, so we could test projectors ready for illustrated talks to resume. That involved Ross unpacking electronics and me wobbling atop a step ladder with the screen and string. The projector turned out to be the size of a paperback book. Barry K and Tim sorted wires and presto! there were photos in glorious technicolour. John B had stock for sale as he is moving his layout into a smaller room.

All those with GWR stock to run were released to set out our Circuit. Plenty of running ensued with John P, Fred and Bill exercising prairies, moguls and 4-6-0s. With DCC on the inner line, Paul H trialled his new Class 122 DMU. It was followed by an LT Pannier, which had everyone listening to its realistic sounds. With eleven of us at the end, we managed to spread putting away tasks. Sarre needed assembling into its transport crates. Few of us remembered the sequence, so it was some time before it departed squeezed into cars. A busy and eventful day.

For Open Day we will try our well-used plan to have as much running as possible. Paul H hopes to bring a diorama too. Do tell us if you are coming and how many friends you expect.
